Terms of Use

These Terms govern your access to and use of MoldChem Tools. By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.

Last updated 17 June 2026 · Governing law: Republic of Moldova.

1. Acceptance of these Terms

These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of the website MoldChem Tools at tools.moldchem.com and all tools, content, and services made available on it (together, the “Site”). The Site is operated by Vladislav Postica, a private individual in the Republic of Moldova (the “Operator”, “we”, “us”, “our”). The Site is a free, non-commercial beta; a Moldovan limited liability company (SRL) is being established and will assume operation of the Site once registered, at which point these Terms will be updated to name that company.

By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms, by our Privacy Policy, our Disclaimer, and our Cookie & Storage Notice, each of which is incorporated by reference. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.

2. What the Site is — nature of the tools

The Site provides free, browser-based chemistry utilities — for example, chemical-identifier lookups, formula and molar-mass calculators, unit converters, and reference information on hazards and exposure limits. The tools work by proxying your queries to public scientific databases (including PubChem, the NCI/CADD Chemical Identifier Resolver, OPSIN, EPA CompTox, and CAS Common Chemistry) and by performing client-side calculations.

The Site is provided for general informational and educational reference only. It is not professional, scientific, medical, safety, regulatory, or legal advice, and it is not a substitute for an official Safety Data Sheet (SDS), laboratory verification, or the judgement of a qualified professional. Your use of any output is governed by the Disclaimer, which forms part of these Terms.

3. Eligibility and acceptable use

You may use the Site only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:

  • (a) use the Site in any way that breaches any applicable law or regulation;
  • (b) attempt to gain unauthorised access to, interfere with, damage, or disrupt the Site, its proxy endpoints (/api/*), its hosting infrastructure, or any connected system;
  • (c) place an unreasonable or disproportionately large load on the Site or on the upstream databases — including by automated scraping, bulk querying, or circumventing rate limits or the web application firewall;
  • (d) use any robot, spider, or other automated means to access the Site for any purpose without our prior written permission, except as permitted by our robots.txt;
  • (e) misuse the tools to develop, produce, or handle chemicals, explosives, weapons, or other materials in violation of applicable law; or
  • (f) introduce malware, or use the Site to transmit unlawful, infringing, or harmful content.

We may, without notice, throttle, suspend, or block access that we reasonably believe breaches these Terms or threatens the security or availability of the Site.

4. Do not submit personal or sensitive data

The Site's search and input fields are designed for chemical identifiers (names, formulas, CAS numbers, and similar). You agree not to enter personal data, confidential information, or sensitive content into these fields. As explained in the Privacy Policy, query text is transmitted to third-party databases and may be reflected in shareable URLs. You are solely responsible for anything you choose to enter.

5. Third-party data, sources, and licences

Chemical data displayed by the Site originates from the public databases named in Section 2 and in our Legal Notice / Imprint. That data remains the property of, and subject to the terms and licences of, its respective providers. We gratefully acknowledge these providers. Where a source imposes attribution, rate-limit, or redistribution conditions (for example, the CAS Common Chemistry licence), your use of the corresponding data is subject to those conditions. We make no claim of ownership over third-party chemical data.

Atomic weights follow IUPAC conventional values; hazard and safety reference information is simplified for convenience and may not reflect the most current official data.

6. Intellectual property in the Site

Except for third-party data and open-source components, the Site — including its design, layout, original text, code, logos, and the “MoldChem” and “MoldChem Tools” names — is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Site for your own lawful, non-commercial or internal-professional reference purposes. You may not copy, reproduce, republish, frame, scrape, or create derivative works from the Site's original code or design without our prior written consent. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

7. Availability, changes, and accuracy

The Site is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or continuously available, or that results will be accurate, complete, or current — in particular because results depend on third-party databases outside our control. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Site, including any tool or data source, at any time and without notice or liability.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Site and all content, tools, and data are provided without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. The full no-warranty and scientific-accuracy terms are set out in the Disclaimer and apply to your use of the Site.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by the law of the Republic of Moldova:

  • (a) you use the Site and any output at your own risk;
  • (b) we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or business, arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the Site or any reliance on its content; and
  • (c) our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Site and these Terms is limited to the greater of (i) the amount you paid us to use the Site (which, for a free service, is zero) or (ii) the minimum amount required by applicable mandatory law.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions; in those jurisdictions our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

10. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Operator, its owners, and personnel from any claim, liability, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Site, or your violation of any law or third-party right in connection with your use of the Site.

11. External links

The Site contains links to third-party websites, including the separate moldchem.com site. We do not control and are not responsible for the content, products, or practices of those sites, which are governed by their own terms and policies. Links do not imply endorsement.

12. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or their subject matter (including non-contractual disputes), are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Moldova, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The courts of the Republic of Moldova have jurisdiction, save that mandatory consumer-protection rules of your country of habitual residence (where you are an EU/EEA consumer) continue to apply where they grant you stronger protection.

13. General

Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the documents incorporated by reference, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Site.
Severability. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force, and the unenforceable provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable.
No waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it.
Assignment. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a reorganisation or transfer of the Site.
Changes. We may revise these Terms at any time by posting an updated version; the “Last updated” date shows the current version, and your continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
