Reagent Prep Cards
Printable preparation cards for Fehling's, Benedict's, Lugol's, and other classics.
How to use this tool
Grab a ready-made recipe card for a classic qualitative-analysis reagent, what it's for, how to make it, and the safety cautions, then print it to keep at the bench.
What to enter
- Reagent: choose one from the list (Fehling's, Benedict's, Tollens', Lugol's, Biuret, indicators…).
- Print card: opens a clean, printer-friendly version of the selected card.
Reading the result
Each card shows the reagent's purpose, a numbered preparation at a convenient working volume (scale linearly), and a caution box. Watch the shelf-life notes, several of these are mixed fresh and a few must never be stored.
Worked example
Tollens' reagent gives the silver-mirror test for aldehydes, and its card carries the critical caution to use it immediately and never store it, as it forms explosive residues on standing.
Using these cards
Each card gives the classic preparation, what the reagent is for, and key cautions. Quantities make a convenient working volume; scale linearly. Many of these solutions have limited shelf life (Fehling's and Benedict's are often mixed fresh, Tollens' must be made immediately before use and never stored, it forms explosive residues). Print a card to keep at the bench.
