First Aid Quick Reference
Emergency response steps for inhalation, skin, eye and ingestion. Browse common lab chemicals, or look up any substance's SDS Section 4 first aid live from PubChem.
How to use this tool
A fast first-aid lookup for common lab chemicals, the immediate steps for an eye, skin, inhalation or ingestion exposure. It is a memory aid, not a substitute for emergency care: for any real exposure call your poison centre or emergency number first (112 in Moldova).
What to enter
- Common chemicals: type to filter the built-in table of frequently-handled lab chemicals (name or CAS). Instant, no network.
- Look up any chemical: switch tabs, type a name or CAS, then press Look up (or Enter) to read the SDS Section 4 first-aid measures and GHS hazards live from PubChem for any substance.
Reading the result
The built-in entries list the response for four routes, Eyes, Skin, Inhaled, Swallowed: as condensed SDS Section 4 measures; some carry critical specifics (HF needs calcium gluconate; phenol is wiped with PEG before flushing; most ingestions say do not induce vomiting). A live lookup returns the verbatim per-route measures PubChem publishes for the substance, plus its GHS hazards. Always follow up with the product's own SDS and professional help.
Worked example
Type sulfuric acid (or CAS 7664-93-9) to get its four-route steps, flush eyes 15+ minutes, and for ingestion do not induce vomiting.
Important
These are condensed general first-aid measures (SDS Section 4 style). They do not replace medical care, the substance's own SDS, or trained emergency response. For any significant exposure, seek professional help immediately and bring the product label/SDS.
Sources
- The built-in table is condensed from generic SDS Section 4 measures and the NIOSH Pocket Guide first-aid summaries.
- Look up any chemical reads the first-aid measures and GHS hazards live from PubChem (First Aid Measures heading) via a same-origin proxy. Text is shown verbatim; it is still no substitute for the product SDS or professional care.
